Three questions that will transform our life

What if I told you that three simple questions hold the key to living a more authentic, purposeful life?

Not quick fixes. Not life hacks. Just three profound questions that, when explored with honesty and courage, can reshape how you see yourself and move through the world.

The heart of my coaching practice is built around these questions:

  • Who am I?
  • What do I believe in?
  • What do I want?

These aren’t questions you answer once and move on. They’re invitations to a lifelong journey of self-discovery, clarity, and growth.

Recently, during my day retreat, we explored “What do I want?”  and the depth of reflection it sparked was remarkable. In my upcoming workshops and BOOST group program, we’ll dive into the other two questions: “Who am I?” and “What do I believe in?”

Let me share why these questions matter and how they can transform your life.

I Know Who I Am

Self-awareness is the cornerstone of wellbeing. Knowing who you truly are isn’t a destination you reach; it’s a journey that unfolds across your lifetime.

In our twenties, we catch glimpses of ourselves,  moments of clarity amid the chaos of becoming. Our thirties bring growth and redefinition as life throws new challenges our way. By our forties, we’re refining those experiences, and in our fifties and beyond, we gain the perspective to look back, analyse, and apply what we’ve learned with greater freedom and wisdom.

Through coaching, I help clients uncover their unique patterns of thinking, communication, and decision-making. Using tools like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), we explore how they process information and interact with the world around them. This self-knowledge often unlocks life-changing insights for careers, relationships, and personal growth.

When you know who you are, not who you think you should be, but who you actually are, everything becomes clearer.

You make better decisions.

You set boundaries with confidence.

You stop apologizing for taking up space.

I know what I believe In

Here’s a question I ask during retreats and coaching sessions that never fails to cut straight to the heart:

“What breaks your heart?”

Your answer reveals your core values,  what you stand for and what drives your compassion. Yet so many of us shy away from the things that break our hearts, fearing the pain or discomfort of those emotions.

I encourage my clients to lean into them instead. That heartbreak? It’s a guiding light, illuminating what truly matters to you.

I use evidence-based questionnaires to help clients uncover their values and strengths. For example, I know that fairness is one of my top strengths. This awareness helps me channel my frustration into action when I witness injustice. Instead of letting those feelings fester, I use them to reflect my values through positive change.

What about you?

Do you know what you believe in? Do you know what breaks your heart? And here’s the crucial follow-up: How do you use those feelings to inspire change in your thoughts or behaviour?

Your values aren’t meant to be abstract ideals gathering dust. They’re meant to be lived, breathed, and acted upon daily.

I Know What I Want

Of the three questions, “What do I want?” is often the hardest to answer.

Many clients come to me feeling stuck or uncertain about their direction. They’ve achieved external markers of success but feel empty. Or they know something needs to change but can’t articulate what.

Here’s what I’ve learned: understanding what you want becomes infinitely clearer when you first know who you are and what you believe in.

By reflecting on your strengths, your experiences, and yes, even your mistakes, you can uncover what truly matters. Coaching helps strip away the noise,  the societal expectations, the “shoulds,” the voices that aren’t your own,  so you can focus on living an authentic life with purpose and meaning.

What you want isn’t selfish. It’s not frivolous. It’s the compass that helps you navigate toward a life that feels genuinely yours.

Your Turn

I invite you to take some time today to sit with these three questions:

  1. Who am I?
  2. What do I believe in?
  3. What do I want?

Don’t rush to answer them. These questions deserve your time, curiosity, and openness. Let them simmer. Return to them. Notice what shifts as you do.

If you’d like to explore them further with guidance and community, I’d love to have you join my BOOST group coaching program. Together, we’ll dive deep into these questions and create a roadmap for living life to the fullest.

Let’s start building the life you truly want one that’s bold, authentic, and filled with meaning.

Because you deserve to know who you are, what you stand for, and where you’re headed.
